WHAT IS MY CALORIE NEED?
FINALLY,BE STRENGTHENED BY THE LORD AND BY HIS VAST STRENGTH.(EPHESIANS6:10).
YOUR METABOLISM........A living body needs a minimum number of calories to maintain vital functions,such as breathing and keeping the heart beating.This minimum number is called basal metabolic rate(BMR).It is what most people are referring to when they talk about metabolism.A quick and easy way to approximate your BMR without checking into a laboratory is to multiply your current weight by 10 if you're a woman and by 11 if you're a man.your body needs about 10 to 11 calories,depending on your sex,for every pound you weight to meet its basic needs.Therefor, a 150 pound woman needs1,500 calories a day;175 pound man needs about 1925 calories.Additional calories are needed for digestion and activity.However,be aware that the more you weight,the higher your calorie need will appear to be.

Your sex.......An adult man has less body-fat and about 10 to 20 percent more muscle than a woman of the same size and age.Because muscle burns more calories than fat does,a man's muscle needs are generally about 5 to 10 percent higher than a woman's
REMEMBER....The exception for women is during pregnancy and breast feeding.During these times in your life,you should not cut calories.In fact,you need to eat more calories-an extra 300 calories a day while pregnant and an extra 500 a day when breast feeding..

How do i know my calorie needs?......Your calorie need is unique to you and depend on a number of factors,including your age,sex,metabolism,activity level.and body size.
A.Your age......Calorie needs peak at about age 25 and begin to decline by 2 percent every 10 years.So if you are 25 years old and need 2,200 calories to maintain your weight,you will need only 2,156 by the time you're 35;2,113 at age 45;2,071 at age 55;and so on.

REVEALING WHERE CALORIES COME FROM................A calorie isn't a nutrient,but certain nutrients provide calories.Protein,carbohydrate,and fat make up the calories of various foods.Although not considered a nutrient,alcohol also provides calories..........In fact,one gram of
*PROTEIN contains 4 calories.
*CARBOHYDRATE contains 4 calories.
*FAT contains 9 calories
*ALCOHOL contains 7 calories.
NOTE..........Not all calories are created equal.Foods that are considered empty-calories really have nothing in them as far as nutrition goes,except for calories.Sugary foods,such as candy,cakes ice cream,are prime examples.When you are restricting calories,you can make some room for empty calories but don't build your diet on them.If you do you will miss out on valuable minerals,fiber,and vitamins.
The opposite of empty calories foods are nutrient-dense foods.Calorie for calorie,they pack a solid nutrition punch by providing a good amount of vitamins,minerals,and/or fiber in comparison to the number of calories they provide.An example of nutrient dense food is an orange.For a mere 60 calories in an orange,you get about 3 grams of fiber,100 percent of your daily vitamin c requirement,and a good amount of folic acid,plus a spectrum of other micro nutrients and photochemicals,such as antioxidants.

WHAT IS MY BMI?

HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR BMI.....Weight yourself first thing in the morning on an empty stomach or at least a couple of hours after food.Wear minimal clothing and make sure your shoes are off.Weight fluctuates from day to day and in women it varies throughout the hormonal cycle,so these factors should be taken into account.
To calculate your BMI take your height in meters and square it(multiply the figure by yourself)measure your weight in kilometers and divide by your height squared.For example,if you're 1.6m(5ft3inches)tall and weight 65kg,the calculation will be:1.6 X 1.6=2.56
65 ÷ 2.56=25.39.In this example,the person has a BMI of 25.39,so she's overweight,but not by much.A BMI of 18.5-25 is normal,25 to 30 is overweight,30 to 40 is severely obese.A BMI of less than 18.5 is officially classed as underweight.
HOW MUCH SHOULD YOU WEIGH?

For women,a waist measurement of 32-34 is high and over 35 is very high,for men,a waist measurement of 37-40 inches is high and above 40 inches is very high.A LARGE WAIST MEASUREMENT INDICATES THE PRESENCE OF UNHEALTHY INTERNAL FAT!
HOWEVER,many of you will want to go a step further and calculate your body mass index or BMI.This is a measure of how much fat you are carrying using a calculator that takes into account your weight and height.Bear in mind that any variation within the 'healthy' range category is fine.

TESTIMONY TIME.........IG BEFORE......
IG, as I was popularly called by
my mates, skinny size 10, able to wear anything in vogue and look really good,
this was before I got married in 2006. I had my first child in 2008 and
shredding the baby weight wasn’t difficult, it just went as time went on after
delivery, 'case closed'.
Then I had my second child in
2010, at the time of delivery I was wearing a size 16 and months after the
birth of my child I was still a size 16. I wasn’t helping myself with the type
of food I eat, I was addicted to coke, drinking at least one bottle a day,
McDonald was my favorite food(burgers and chips). When I ate rice, my plate
will be hipped as if there was no food for tomorrow, so let me eat all today. I
love my pounded yam and Ogbolor soup topped with assorted meat, to name but a
few.
My husband wasn’t complaining.
When I wear cloths and look at the mirror, I know something is wrong, I don’t
look nice. When I go out with my sister, people ask if I am older than her(in
fact she is 6 years older than me). My friends see my sister picture on my
facebook profile and they begin to call me and saying 'see as your sister fine,
see her shape, she nor de help you shred your weight?' I constantly laugh it
off.
The last straw was when my
husband and I went to a friends party. We meet a mutual friends' wife whom was
previously a size 18, she was now size 12, my husband could not hold his
surprise. This was what he said “Madam, how you de, na you be this, see how you
fine, wetin you do? Ahhhh, this is really good”. Mind you I wasn’t far away. To
say the truth I was impress by her weight lost, because she looked beautiful.
On our way home I began to quized
my husband, I was jealous because of the compliment he paid to the lady. His
answer was 'Angle don’t worry I was simply complementing what I saw. I am
not complaining that your are fat. I
like you the way you are” 'case closed'.
During this time, I went for my
yearly check up to my doctor, My blood pressure was really high, When my BMI
was completed, taking into account my height, I was in the bother line of
obesity, trust me you don’t have to be fat like Michelin Tyre to be obese.
Check your BMI. I was given a monitor for 24 hours to get an average reading of
my blood pressure and it was 144/110, this showed that I had developed high
blood pressure. I was advised of my
options, medication or lifestyle change? I choose the latter.
I made up my mind, I don’t want
to be told that I was older than my Sister who is 6 years older than me, I
don’t want to develop high blood pressure and put my health at risk when I have
a lovely husband and two beautiful children. I don’t want my husband to be
complimenting other women on their figure whilst I look like Michelin Tyre.
Something had to give. I need HELP.
This support that had been offered
to me over the years and I refused....I now have to succumb. I had to call BODY
PERFECT, Princess Kathy Emiko, my sister and friend. She provided me with
'Princess Kathy Weight loss pack' and a
new eating plan/exercise. I started with the process on the 30th of
September 2012 and by first week in December I was down from a size 16 to
10.(see my pictures below). I haven’t put back the weight because I now eat
healthy. I watch what I put in my mouth. No more fizzy drink, I now drink
herbal tea and for an addict to coke, the taste of it can make me vomit now.
The good thing is my blood
pressure is normal – I thank you Lord!!. It was like magic, the truth is the
more weight I lost the more my blood pressure went down.
Now I wear size TEN, when I dress
up, I look really good, I get complement from my colleagues, friends and
family. My husband said to my surprise the other day ' fat nor good oh....I nor
like fat person before' and I replied ' why you nor tell me' he said 'Angle, na
for better for worse'

IT IS GOD WHO WORKS IN YOU TO WILL AND ACT ACCORDING TO HIS GOOD PURPOSE.(PHILIPPIANS 2:13).
WHAT BODY TYPE ARE YOU?.....ENDOMORPH-If this is your natural body state then you are of heavier build and more prone to weight gain.Women are likely to have plenty of natural curves-the classic pear shape-and men are likely to be stockier,no matter what their height.Both men and women of this type can be prone to sluggishness,although when active or working out their endurance is very good.Mentally and emotionally this type is the classic follower and friend,loyal and more cautious than the two.If this is your body type you'll need to take consistent care in order to prevent significant weight gain although remember that you'll always be naturally more rounded,so celebrate those curves!If you are this body type then try to introduce regular exercise and keep natural whole foods for healthy weight loss.

WHAT BODY TYPE ARE YOU?...........MESOMORPH-If this is your natural body state then you are of medium height and build,with good muscle tone-the classic athlete.Given your natural physicality,you were probably quite competitive and sporty in your youth.On the mental and emotional side,this body type is often ambitious and driven,sometimes to the detriment of their health,and can be irritable when out of balance.Unless there is an underlying medical issue,you tend to gain weight gradually and it will be distributed evenly over your body.Your weight loss is usually steady and is best supported by a focused exercise programme,but you shouldn't get too hung up on what it says on the scales,since this type has a propensity to build muscle and muscle is about 18% denser and heavier than fat.

WHAT BODY TYPE ARE YOU?
FOR WE KNOW THAT IF OUR EARTHLY HOUSE,A TENT, IS DESTROYED,WE HAVE A BUILDING FROM GOD,MADE NOT WITH HANDS,ETERNAL IN THE HEAVENS.(2CORINTHIANS 5:1).
To create the right conditions to lose weight,forever,you need to get to know your body type.Understanding which of the three body types you are gives you a realistic body shape to aim for and means you can choose the right weight loss strategies;The ones that are most likely to work for you and your body type.
If you look around, you will start to see that there are different types of body.Most medical systems,both ancient and modern,use body typing as a way to help to classify individual predispositions to weight gain,certain illness and even personality traits. To help identify my clients' body types,i draw up on the body typing systems of AYURVEDA,the 'science of life' from India,as well as the western medical ectomorph(naturally slender)mesomorph(medium build,athletic)and endomorph(larger-build,curvy or heavier)classifications.
NOTE that any of the body type can gain weight,but each gain and lose weight in slightly different ways.
ECTOMORPH.........Slim.and often have long legs and arms.Likely to have visible veins on arms and hands-you can see veins almost every where!This shape is prone to wind,constipation,and dry skin and hair.In mental and emotional terms,this body type is generally creative and changeable.Any weight gain experience is likely to be around the middle(stomach),but they tend to be able to lose it quickly and easily.However,routine and structure is needed to support a healthy life style.

GOOD CARBS,BAD CARBS...............
FOR IT WAS YOU WHO CREATED MY INWARD PARTS;YOU KNIT ME TOGETHER IN MY MOTHERS WOMB.I WILL PRAISE YOU,BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN REMARKABLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE.(PSALM 139 13-14).
Carbohydrates have gotten a bad rap!Too bad because,along with protien and fat,carbs are a macro nutrient essential to the body.Your brain loves crabs.Just try going without and see if you can operate your cell phone.So what is the problem?
We are going on processed carbohydrates.The store shelves are full of them.Made from processed grains that lend very little nutritional value to our meals and send our blood sugar through the roof,these are the bad guys.Any excess carbohydrate are also stored as fat.
Good carbohydrates on the other hand,are full of extra nutritional gems like FIBER,VITAMINS AND MINERALS,meaning they do a lot more for your body than a bowl full of white rice ever will.They balance out your sugar and help your body use energy efficiently.So what are the good crabs?VEGETABLES,FRUIT,LEGUMES AND WHOLE GRAINS LIKE BROWN RICE.And what are the bad crabs?ANYTHING CONTAINING REFINED WHITE FLOURS AND SUGARS.STAY AWAY!

Why would you put something in your body that you can't pronounce,let alone fathom where it might have come from?Although it might seem obvious,chemicals aren't food for you or any other living thing.Food scientists are paid big money to create long lasting,artificially delicious food.chemical concoctions become the prime ingredients in food on the grocery store shelves,meaning a mad scientist is your personal chef.Massive food business are leading you blindly into a world of PLASTIC FOOD that will ultimately destroy your health,leaving you poor and then laughing all the way to the bank.Chemicals are not nutrition.They don't satisfy your hunger,they are addictive and they'll leave you sick in the hospital with one of the many all too prevalent diseases including diabetes or cancer. SMALLER PORTIONS=SMALLER PANTS!
But from Him you are in Christ Jesus,who for us became wisdom from God,as well as righteousness,sanctification,and redemption.(1 Corinthians 1:30).
Downsize your dinner plate...........You have been eating clean for weeks and months now but you're getting sooooooo frustrated that the weight isn't falling off."how come it is for everyone else?Why not me?I'm eating my five or six meals,i don't cheat,i exercise three or four times a week and still the scale won't budge!
It is possible to be an "over" clean eater.You think,"oh wow!I'm eating healthy foods;now i can eat even more!let's just stop right there:Yes you are making great food choices,and you are probably eating more than you used to,but that doesn't mean you can eat infinite amount of it.Your body has a limit on its gas tank(stomach)and too much clean fuel will build up and add fat.You need to get in tune with your body,your metabolism and your stomach.Listen to your body's natural ability to tell you when you're full and when you're hungry.Even healthy foods needs to be consumed in balance.
Learn to be mindful of how much food and ultimately how many calories you are putting into your stomach.TAKE NOTE OF YOUR PORTION SIZES
