PORTION CONTROL TIPS
To lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you consume, which inevitably means one thing: portion control. But you're not necessarily doomed to a growling stomach until you reach your goal. "Portion control doesn't mean you have to eat tiny portions. You don't want to feel like you're on a diet, but you have to eat fewer calories.

Start with a glass of H2O

Drink 16 ounces (a big glass) of water before you eat,  Filling your belly with water will naturally make you less likely to overeat,  Plus, some symptoms of dehydration may actually be what's causing your rumbling belly, so sipping some water before you eat may eliminate your "hunger" altogether.

Wear form-fitting clothes

We're not suggesting you squeeze into pants that are too tight. However, wearing an outfit with a waistband or perhaps a jacket with buttons can serve as a tool to prompt you to slow down and assess how you feel during your meal, . As your clothing begins to feel a little snugger, it may keep you from going back for seconds. This works for me!

Add veggie fillers

Bulking up your meals with veggies is one easy way to cut calories while filling you up fast. Make carbs the topper instead of the base

Limit mealtime distractions

Turn off the TV and put your smartphone away while you eat. A recent review of studies found that people who watched television during meals tended to consume more than those who ate without any distractions. And for you  office  dwellers? Consider taking your lunch break away from your desk.

Use smaller serve ware and dishes

Turns out that even food experts aren't so savvy about eyeballing portion sizes. In a Cornell University study, 85 nutrition experts gathered for an ice cream social to celebrate the success of a colleague. They were randomly given either a small or large bowl, or a small serving scoop or large serving scoop. Then, the nutritionists were asked to complete a brief survey while the study researchers secretly weighed their bowls. Those given the larger bowls served themselves 31% more without realizing it, while those who used the larger scoop unknowingly served themselves 14.5% more. Moral of the story? Dish up your own food with a small utensil onto a small bowl or plate, and chances are you'll eat less.

Many people have trained themselves to expect a sweet treat at the end of a meal, Swap in a new, healthier ritual after meals to signal that you're done eating. Take oolong tea.

FLAT BELLY RULES
While you're alive you want to look and feel your healthiest and for many people, looking healthy means having a flat stomach. Having a flat stomach can make shopping for clothes more fun and provide an extra boost of confidence . If you're looking to flatten your stomach, follow a few simple flat tummy rules.
REDUCE BLOATING
  • If you want a flat stomach, the first thing you need to do is reduce bloating. You can do this by cutting down on food that causes gas, such as beans, cauliflower, broccoli and brussel sprouts. These nutritious vegetables are good for you and shouldn't be eliminated from your diet, but they should be consumed in moderation. Another way to reduce bloating is to chew less gum, which can increase bloating because air is swallowed as you chew it.
INCREASE ELIMINATION
  • Often, not having a flat stomach is caused by infrequent elimination. Regulate your bowel movements by increasing your intake of fruits, vegetables (except for the ones that cause more gas!), lean protein and whole grains.
DRINK LOTS OF WATER
  • Water helps flush out toxins, impurities and fats from your system. Adults are advised to drink between eight and 10 eight-ounce glasses of water per day.
SAY GOODBYE TO FRIED FOODS
  • Fried foods are high in fat, the opposite of what you need to consume if you're trying to get a flat tummy. Substitute fried foods for grilled, baked or broiled dishes. Eat baked potatoes or baked sweet potato fries instead of french fries; try baked or broiled chicken instead of fried chicken. Choose a salad as a restaurant appetizer rather than the more popular options of fried cheese and vegetables.
CUT DOWN CALORIES
  • In order to lose weight in your stomach, or in any other area of your body, you will have to cut down your caloric intake/ The average daily diet consists 2,000 to 2,500 calories. In order to lose weight, you should consume between 1,200 to 1,600 calories per day.

EAT SLOWLY
  • Eating quickly causes your stomach to expand in two ways. When you consume your food at a rapid pace, you'll often swallow air, which causes bloating. This may also cause you to overeat because your body doesn't receive the signal that you're full so you tend to eat more than you need. If you eat slowly, you will not only reduce your air intake, you will also give your stomach a chance to send important signals to your brain indicating that you've had enough to eat.
EAT SMALLER MEALS
  • To keep your stomach flat and your hunger at bay, break your calories up into 4 to 5 small 300- to 400-calorie meals per day. Eating frequent, smaller meals eliminates a bloated full feeling while maintaining your blood sugar levels and keeping hunger at bay.
EXERCISE
  • Eating right is only half the battle when it comes to losing weight. You must exercise. In order to lose stomach fat, you may be tempted to only do exercises that isolate your stomach muscles. Resist the temptation; it's nearly impossible to lose weight in only one area of your body. If you exercise your entire body, your whole body will respond. Weight bearing exercises will strengthen your core and cardio exercises, such as jogging, power walking, swimming or kick boxing, will burn those calories and slim your body.
EAT FRESH FOODS
  • Highly processed foods can be low in fiber and high in sodium you can eliminate uncomfortable stomach bloating by eating a healthy diet that doesn't include more than 2,300 mg of sodium per day.
GIVE YOURSELF TIME
  • Be patient with yourself. Your belly bulge didn't appear in a day, and it won't disappear in a week. Remember, you're making a lifestyle change, not searching for a quick fix.

DO NOT CALL YOURSELF FAT.

Would you do me a favor? Please do not call yourself fat. It is ridiculous. Just because you have excess fat on your body does not mean that it is who you are.
If I sound like I take this issue personally…well, it is because I do. I started calling myself “fat” when I was just 12 years-old. I had no idea that my words would become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
To lose weight, I found a diet in a women’s magazine that gave me a mere 850 calories to eat per day, which is basically a starvation diet.
Although I lost the weight I thought I needed to lose, it did not last. The minute I went back to my old habits, the weight returned plus more pounds.
Little did I know that similar self-defeating dieting cycles would play out in my life for the next 20 or so years!
But then God showed me a better way to reach a healthy weight based upon His word. He also taught me about the danger of calling myself negative names:
Be sure the names you call yourself are ones to which you want to answer.”
Let me explain further why I believe calling yourself fat is ridiculous.
Fat is a part of your body. So is hair, bone, blood, and skin. Can you imagine saying to yourself “I am hair” or “I am skin”? Sounds crazy doesn’t it? Then why would you insist on telling yourself “I am fat”?
“I am” are the two most powerful words in the universe. After all, “I AM” is the name of our God. When Moses asked God how he should answer when the children of Israel asked Moses who sent him, Exodus 3:14 records the following:
And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”
That is why I believe what you say after the words “I am” is very important. “I am” is where you define the person you believe you are or want to be. According to my husband Mike, a brother at church told him once:
Take heed of the words you speak because your words are projected forward – ahead of you and not behind. You will walk into whatever you speak. If you speak positive words, you will walk into positive words.”
When I spoke “I am fat” to myself at the age of 12, I walked right into living out those words in my future. This result confirms a Biblical principle:
For He who would love life
And see good days,
Let him refrain his tongue from evil,
And his lips from speaking deceit (1 Peter 3:10).”

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t want to love life and see good days! But if you are speaking deceit about yourself, then you are short-circuiting this blessing in your life. You condemn yourself to walk into future bad days.
The dictionary defines “deceit” as misrepresenting the truth.  And I have proven that saying “I am fat” is not the truth about who you are.
When you make yourself feel bad about who you are, then you are more likely to turn to destructive behavior, like binge eating, in an attempt to soothe your hurt feelings. It’s a lose/lose situation all around.
To turn things around, imagine that you are saying the same words to a little child who longs to have your love and approval.
Would you say those words to them?
If not, then don’t speak that deceit to yourself either! Encourage and speak well of yourself. Speak words that you want to walk into in the future.
When you put God’s word into practice consistently, more good days will be yours!
